Op-Ed: Wall  Street is Occupied protest not getting media coverage

New York–  Wall Street is being occupied by protesters  against corporate greed. Several of the peaceful protesters have been arrested  during the Occupy Wall Street protest by those who say they are the 99 percent  of Americans who are facing economic crisis.

The protesters are maintaining  a peaceful encampment protesting the financial institutions that have been in  the protesters words being in control of our land.

Starting  last weekendwith 5,000 people camping on Liberty Street just blocks from  the center of the United States banking center protesters have slowly left,  today there is only about 200 strong keeping up the peaceful protest. One of  those that has been part of the movement is Michael Moore, the filmmaker who has  documented Wall Street in the past and the corruption that takes place behind  the gilded doors.

Some of the demands  of the group is to end the modern gilded age, end joblessness, stop political  corruption, end health profiteering and ending war.

What could have been a media  boom though has roughly gone unreported.  The marches are being reported but the general assembly of those who are taking  part is lacking coverage for what is a global movement.

The major networks have ignored the  protest centered in their own nation. Had the action taken place in an  undeveloped area of the world there would be non-stop coverage of it. Instead in  America the status quo of the one percent that have the most power when it comes  to the economic situation in the States are looking the other way.

Would the situation be different if the  Tea Party was part of the story? Some believe that would be the case. When the Tea Partyhas a few  hundred people gather for a protest the media hounds are snapping at their  tails.

What does it take to get the media  involved in a peaceful action that protests those who few that have the most  power? Without the media focus the rest of the nation is left unaware of what is  happening on the very doors of the banking world. Does peaceful protest only  matter when its past the borders in a far off land with dictators who have  physically harmed their citizens?

Is poverty not a harm to the average  man? Does not being able to have a job because of the economy not changing the  landscape of America?

Does major network news only matter  when it shows the ‘best’ of America or a ghastly crime? If Rosa Parks was  protesting today would she be ignored?

Hoje estou nos meus dias…….aqui vai um ranting  😀

Idolaterar finançeiramente estrelas sem talento=Patroçinar finançeiramente a tua própria destruição.

Para quem tem filhos…..vai ser chato um dia ter que lhes pedir desculpa por ter hipotecado o seu futuro porque me distraí a ver a bola e a mandar SMSs enquanto me desculpava a mim próprio com golos e jolas da impotençia intelectual de compreender o mundo que me rodeia .

Perguntas sobre coisas que o povo diz todos os dias e não faz minima ideia do que estão a falar:

‘Zombie ants’ controlled by parasitic fungus for 48m years

The gruesome hallmark of the fungus’s handiwork was found on the leaves of plants that grew in Messel, near Darmstadt in Germany, 48m years ago.

The finding shows that parasitic fungi evolved the ability to control the creatures they infect in the distant past, even before the rise of the Himalayas.

The fungus, which is alive and well in forests today, latches on to carpenter ants as they cross the forest floor before returning to their nests high in the canopy.

The fungus grows inside the ants and releases chemicals that affect their behaviour. Some ants leave the colony and wander off to find fresh leaves on their own, while others fall from their tree-top havens on to leaves nearer the ground.

The final stage of the parasitic death sentence is the most macabre. In their last hours, infected ants move towards the underside of the leaf they are on and lock their mandibles in a “death grip” around the central vein, immobilising themselves and locking the fungus in position.

“This can happen en masse. You can find whole graveyards with 20 or 30 ants in a square metre. Each time, they are on leaves that are a particular height off the ground and they have bitten into the main vein before dying,” said David Hughes at Harvard University.

The fungus cannot grow high up in the canopy or on the forest floor, but infected ants often die on leaves midway between the two, where the humidity and temperature suit the fungus. Once an ant has died, the fungus sprouts from its head and produces a pod of spores, which are fired at night on to the forest floor, where they can infect other ants.

Scientists led by Hughes noticed that ants infected with the fungus, Ophiocordyceps unilateralis, bit into leaves with so much force they left a lasting mark. The holes created by their mandibles either side of the leaf vein are bordered by scar tissue, producing an unmistakable dumb-bell shape.

Writing in the journal, Biology Letters, the team describes how they trawled a database of images that document leaf damage by insects, fungi and other organisms. They found one image of a 48m-year-old leaf from the Messel pit that showed the distinctive “death grip” markings of an infected ant. At the time, the Messel area was thick with subtropical forests.

“We now present it as the first example of behavioural manipulation and probably the only one which can be found. In most cases, this kind of control is spectacular but ephemeral and doesn’t leave any permanent trace,” Hughes said.

“The question now is, what are the triggers that push a parasite not just to kill its host, but to take over its brain and muscles and then kill it.”

He added: “Of all the parasitic organisms, only a few have evolved this trick of manipulating their host’s behaviour.

Why go to the bother? Why are there not more of them?”

Scientists are not clear how the fungus controls the ants it infects, but know that the parasite releases alkaloid chemicals into the insect as it consumes it from the inside.

Parlamento Europeu Aprova Relatório Que Prevê Corte de Net em Caso de Pirataria

O Parlamento Europeu aprovou o Relatório Gallo, que prevê a interdição de acesso à Internet a quem faça descarregamentos ilegais, embora deixe essa decisão ao critério de cada Governo dos países da União Europeia.

Elaborado pela eurodeputada francesa Marielle Gallo, o relatório, que não tem carácter legislativo, obteve esta quarta-feira 328 votos a favor, 245 contra e 81 abstenções e passa a servir de referência à legislação que os 27 Estados-membros da UE venham a adoptar para combater a pirataria.

O director-geral da Associação Fonográfica Portuguesa, Eduardo Simões, considera esta aprovação é essencial para que a Comissão Europeia “se sinta confortável” para avançar com uma iniciativa legislativa sobre a matéria. E frisa que, “das soluções debatidas e que se conhecem, esta é a única capaz de travar o problema”.

Simões esclarece, porém, que a sanção para quem descarregue conteúdos sem autorização dos detentores de direitos de autor não tem de passar necessariamente por um corte da Internet (como poderá agora começar a acontecer em França, com a entrada em funcionamento da polémica lei Hadopi). “Pode ser uma coima. O importante é que seja uma sanção dissuasora”.

O objectivo, explica Simões, é evitar que tenha de se recorrer a sanções penais. “A solução que já existe é pôr queixas-crime a torto e a direito e a máquina judicial não aguenta”, lamenta o director da AFP.

Considerando que, em Portugal, a indústria está perto de um “ponto de insustentabilidade”, o responsável argumenta ser “altura de os Governos agirem nesta área”, mesmo que este tipo de medida “não seja uma medida popular”.

Em finais do ano passado, quando a solução de corte de acesso estava em debate, o Ministério da Cultura português admitiu, em resposta a questões do PÚBLICO, que esta medida pudesse ser aplicada: “É natural que a medida do corte de acesso possa vir a ser tomada, depois de vários avisos ao utilizador, mediante decisão judicial”, afirmou então o ministério.

A Federação Internacional da Indústria Fonográfica (IFPI), que tem feito lobby em favor de medidas deste tipo, também já se mostrou satisfeita com a aprovação. “O Parlamento Europeu reconheceu que os Governos não podem ficar impassíveis perante a ameaça” da pirataria digital, afirmou, em comunicado, a directora-geral da IFPI, Frances Moore.

A IFPI considera, contudo, necessário que a Comissão Europeia proponha agora aos Governos dos 27 que elaborem legislação de combate à infracção da propriedade intelectual nos meios digital e físico.

Opinião diferente tem a Quadrature du Net – um grupo de cidadãos de vários países europeus que defende o livre acesso à Internet – , para quem o documento representa um atentado à liberdade e privacidade aos cidadãos.

Este movimento apela mesmo aos utilizadores para protestarem e começarem uma campanha na Internet.

Lei Hadopi

Entretanto, já está em funcionamento em França o sistema previsto na lei Hadopi, que poderá levar à interdição de acesso à rede a quem faça repetidamente downloads ilegais. Os detentores de direitos de autor já estão a enviar dezenas de milhar de endereços de IP para os operadores de telecomunicações.

Estes operadores dispõem depois de oito dias para indicar nomes, moradas e contactos telefónicos associados a cada conta usada para descarregamentos ilegítimos.

Com a informação fornecida pelos operadores de comunicações, autores e editores vão poder notificar os donos das contas de acesso à Internet, sempre que detectem descarregamentos ilegais. No caso de os infractores ignorarem os avisos, os casos serão enviados para um juiz que pode aplicar multas ou decidir interditar o acesso à Internet. Uma versão inicial da lei previa o corte de acesso sem recurso a um tribunal. A medida, porém, acabou por ser declarada inconstitucional pelo Conselho Constitucional francês.

That the Bilderbergers—essentially a talking shop for European and North American power players—are interested in discussing the current meltdown of the European economy should come as no surprise, especially as the group’s attendee list includes many of the key financiers and string pullers who helped steer Europe into the crisis in the first place. Past attendees of the meeting include current EU President Herman Van Rompuy who got the job as the first non-elected head of the undemocratic European Union after a special wine and dine session with Bilderberg steering committee members. Last year he heralded the beginning of global government, praising the increased role of G20 in dealing with the global financial crisis. Other key Bilderbergers include Jean-Claude Trichet, who, as head of the European Central Bank, was instrumental in helping to craft the current European bailout which itself is designed to incentivize the bankruptcy of Europe. Trichet, too, also recently called for global government to regulate the world economic meltdown that his fellow Bilderbergers helped to create.

Those familiar with the Bilderberg group’s long-cherished dream of achieving global government through the creation of an international financial framework will be unsurprised to see that a debate on the question "Do We Have Institutions to Deal With the World Economy?" is the third order of business at this year’s meeting. Nor will it be a surprise when the question is inevitably answered with the standard globalist line that international institutions like the IMF and the World Bank need to be "strengthened" and even given enhanced regulatory powers as a result of the crisis they have brought about, exactly as Bilderberg observers have been predicting for years. Indeed, as Estulin himself notes in his latest book, Shadow Masters, former U.S. Undersecretary of State George Ball expressed the ambition of the globalists in an address to the 1968 Bilderberg meeting in Mont Tremblant when he stated that they were interested in developing a "world company" to take over the "archaic political structure of nation states"

Other items on the agenda are exactly in line with the issues and plans made at last year’s Bilderberg and those ideas debated at last year’s G20 Finance Ministers meeting, both of which Estulin was able to infiltrate with his inside sources. The fact that the Iran-Russia alliance is on this year’s agenda is doubly telling, not only because a strike against Iran was on the table at this year’s Trilateral Commission meeting, but because, as Estulin notes in today’s interview, it indicates that the real object of the Bilderbergers’ aggression against Iran is the destabilization of Russia, a country that has traditionally been a thorn in the side of the globalists.

Perhaps the only thing that is surprising about this year’s leaked agenda is that the secretive group, which has gone to great length to conceal itself from media and public scrutiny, has failed to take precautions to prevent Estulin and his sources from acquiring the information yet again. "I’m a little bit disappointed in the Bilderbergers," he said on the line from Spain, where he currently resides. "I would think they would have taken certain precautions and measures, especially coming to my part of the world."

While the agenda is only a guide for the larger group discussions and the real decision-making takes place among the core members of the group behind closed doors, it does serve as an indicator of the issues and events that are preoccupying the globalists at this sensitive stage of their operation, just as they begin to realize their dream of instituting global government by manufacturing a global depression. Even as these plans begin to come to fruition, the people of Iceland, Greece, and other developed countries are beginning to rise up en masse to throw off the yoke of financial oppression and key Bilderbergers are openly talking of their fears of a global political awakening.

This year’s conference marks a new level of exposure and opposition to the Bilderberg group itself. Daniel Estulin will be making an historic speech to the European parliament on June 1st along with Mario Borghezio, Nigel Farage, and other key MEPs. Then Charlie Skelton, reporting once again for the UK’s Guardian newspaper, will be taking part in a mass counter-conference where those opposed to the Bilderbergers and their secret proceedings will gather to draw attention to the group.

Agora que está tudo bem disposto,sempre disse que o futebol é uma religiao mas……enganei-me,cheguei ontem á conclusão que ficou pior.
Todos nós gostamosde gozar um pouco com aqueles fundamentalistas malucos que matam por desenhos,cristãos criacionistas,católicó-pedofilos,ou viver como um goian para um judeu mas,o fanático da bola chegou ao pódio.
Ontem,estava  divertidissimo com a propaganda sionista que passava no aparelho de programação social que temos em casa,não sei bem se foi o canal de fachada espanhola controlada pelo executivo maçonico se foi o bildeberger do balsemão em carnaxide(abraços ai na loja),mas a cabeça falante que lia o teleponto deu uma notiçia muito intressante:
Um escandalo qualquer com jogadores da seleção francesa de futebol,em que os bacanos partiçiparam em festas com,(drummroll…)Prostitutas menores……mais uma vez,Prostitutas menores!

Governo dá (nosso dinheiro agora aperta o cinto com o PEC) 12 estadios,devem dinheiro ao fisco,matam tudo o que é desporto para canalizar dinheiro para a religiao,o jogo é viçiado,corrupto,dinheiro lavado,imobiliario comprado,dividas para os soçios em troca de uma vitoria,aquele sentimento de paz interior que só se consegue com uma religiao ,mas nesta religiao do futebol,até os pedófilos saem impunes.

A cat with an uncanny ability to detect when nursing home patients are about to die has proven itself in around 50 cases by curling up with them in their final hours, according to a new book.

Dr David Dosa, a geriatrician and assistant professor at Brown University, said that five years of records showed Oscar rarely erring, sometimes proving medical staff at the New England nursing home wrong in their predictions over which patients were close to death.

The cat, now five and generally unsociable, was adopted as a kitten at the Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Providence, Rhode Island, which specialises in caring for people with severe dementia.

Dr Dosa first publicised Oscar’s gift in an article in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2007. Since then, the cat has gone on to double the number of imminent deaths it has sensed and convinced the geriatrician that it is no fluke.

The tortoiseshell and white cat spends its days pacing from room to room, rarely spending any time with patients except those with just hours to live.

If kept outside the room of a dying patient, Oscar will scratch on the door trying to get in.

When nurses once placed the cat on the bed of a patient they thought close to death, Oscar "charged out" and went to sit beside someone in another room. The cat’s judgement was better than that of the nurses: the second patient died that evening, while the first lived for two more days.

Dr Dosa and other staff are so confident in Oscar’s accuracy that they will alert family members when the cat jumps on to a bed and stretches out beside its occupant.

"It’s not like he dawdles. He’ll slip out for two minutes, grab some kibble and then he’s back at the patient’s side. It’s like he’s literally on a vigil," Dr Dosa wrote.

Dr Dosa noted that the nursing home keeps five other cats, but none of the others have ever displayed a similar ability.

In his book, "Making rounds with Oscar: the extraordinary gift of an ordinary cat", Dr Dosa offers no solid scientific explanation for Oscar’s behaviour.

He suggests Oscar is able – like dogs, which can reportedly smell cancer – to detect ketones, the distinctly-odoured biochemicals given off by dying cells.

Far from recoiling from Oscar’s presence, now they know its significance, relatives and friends of patients have been comforted and sometimes praised the cat in newspaper death notices and eulogies, said Dr Dosa.

"People were actually taking great comfort in this idea, that this animal was there and might be there when their loved ones eventually pass. He was there when they couldn’t be," he said.

Global warming con men hoping to bag windfall profits from the climate change scam are wincing today after carbon trading markets nose dived following the failure at Copenhagen to secure legally binding targets on restricting CO2 emissions.

Barclays Capital director Trevor Sikorski labeled the Copenhagen result “very disappointing” and said that the outlook for the global carbon market was bearish.

European Union carbon markets dropped by nearly 9 percent this morning before stabilizing.

One dealer described the market as like “a falling knife,” reports the Financial Times.

“UN-backed certified emissions reductions for December 2010 delivery fell 6.6 per cent to €11.05 a tonne, their lowest level since June 23.”

With carbon prices set to drop as low as 10 euros a tonne in the first quarter of 2010, analysts

are saying that only a Senate approval of the U.S. cap and trade bill will rescue the market.

As we have documented, Maurice Strong, who is regularly credited as founding father of the modern environmental movement, serves on the board of directors of The Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX). Strong was a leading initiate of the Earth Summit in the early 90s, where the theory of global warming caused by CO2 generated by human activity was most notably advanced.

By using his considerable wealth and influence to lobby for cap and trade and a tax on CO2 emissions, Strong stood to enrich his company’s coffers to the tune of trillions if a binding agreement on carbon dioxide had been formulated in Copenhagen.

Strong and his close ally Al Gore come from a stable of elite groups that have long sought to use the environmental movement to advance their financial agenda.

Strong, who was groomed by David Rockefeller to eventually serve as Director of the Rockefeller Foundation, is also a member of the Bilderberg Group, the Trilateral Commission, the Council on Foreign Relations and the Club of Rome, the organization who infamously proposed in their 1991 report, The First Global Revolution, that fears about the environment should be exploited in order to usher in a global government.

Downloads Não Podem Ser Penalizados, Lembra Ministra da Cultura

A ministra da Cultura, Gabriela Canavilhas, defendeu ontem em Bruxelas que o download ilegal de produtos culturais não pode ser penalizado em Portugal, uma vez que não está identificado como matéria criminal.

"Ainda é preciso legislar e identificar os downloads como matéria criminal", antes de se poder agir contra quem retira produtos culturais da Internet ilegalmente, disse a ministra.

Gabriela Canavilhas, que falava no final de um conselho de ministros da Cultura da UE, acrescentou que a possibilidade da interrupção da ligação à Internet recentemente aprovada pelo Parlamento Europeu só é aplicável quando há crime.

"Como a nossa legislação ainda não está clara na identificação do download como crime, e com as penalizações previstas e regulamentadas, essa matéria ainda não se aplica à temática dos conteúdos culturais", clarificou.

A governante defendeu ainda que o caminho a seguir deverá ser o da penalização de quem fornece os conteúdos. "Penso que devemos penalizar o servidor que permite que os ‘downloads’ sejam feitos e aí é muito mais fácil actuar e fazer legislação", disse.

A ministra defendeu também que se deve "caminhar rapidamente para definição urgente de medidas de prevenção da pirataria e de compensação dos autores nos downloads, que aí passariam a ser legais".

O que diz a lei?

A legislação portuguesa permite a reprodução de uma obra para fins privados (e um download pode caber nesta definição). Esta possibilidade, contudo, só se coloca quando não seja "atingida a exploração normal da obra", nem seja causado "prejuízo injustificado dos interesses legítimos dos autores".

A questão do prejuízo eventualmente causado pelos downloads tem dividido opiniões: enquanto uns defendem que as vendas se ressentem devido à possibilidade de download gratuito, outros argumentam (e com base em alguns estudos académicos relativos à indústria musical) que não há uma correspondência directa entre a queda das vendas e a possibilidade de partilha de ficheiros.

Mais consensual é que colocar uma obra à disposição não é permitido por lei. Tipicamente, porém, quando um cibernauta recorre a um sistema de peer-to-peer para partilha de ficheiros, está simultaneamente a descarregar ficheiros e a colocá-los à disposição de outros utilizadores.
